Mae Thomas

Mae Thomas is the former Permanent Secretary to Guyana’s Minister of Home Affairs and current Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Labour. She is sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury for allegedly having misused her position as Permanent Secretary to Guyana’s Minister of Home Affairs between 2020 and 2023 to favour Mohamed’s Entreprise, a gold and money exchange company owned by the Mohameds and accused of tax evasion. She is accused of manipulating the award of public contracts to the benefit of the company, facilitating the obtention of weapons permits and passports, in exchange for cash and high-value gifts [1].
