Azruddin Mohamed is a Guyanese businessman specialised in gold trade and money exchange. He took over the Mohamed’s Entreprise, a gold and money exchange company established by his father Nazar Mohamed, which has grown over the years into one of Guyane’s largest gold exporters, selling and trading gold throughout the world. Mohamed’s Entreprise is accused of tax evasion, to an amount that could approach €50 million in duty taxes to the Government of Guyana for the period 2019 and 2023. The company, which is also subject to sanctions, allegedly bribed customs officials to minimise imports and exports, suspected of avoiding taxes on 10,000 kilos of gold, and to facilitate shipments. The two businessmen are accused of consistently bribing Guyanese public officials in order to keep their activities operating and hidden, avoid legal repercussions and obtain public contracts. [1]
