The “Rhamanis”, Mir Rahman Rahmani and his son Ajmal Rahmani, are businessmen and political figures from Afghanistan. They are allegedly involved in large and complex procurement corruption schemes, which embezzled millions of dollars of funds provided by U.S. government contracts. Both men are accused of stealing large sums of public money through the National Defense and Security Forces’ fuel contracts, artificially inflating the contract prices, frauding import taxes and bribing Customs, under-delivering fuel and ensuring their political position with bribes [1]. Mir Rahman Rahmani was exposed in the Cyprus Papers in 2020, and accused of having bought Cypriot citizenship [2].
